In the latter part of the 17th Century the AnaBaptists, Quakers and Congregationalists had been meeting and preaching here in homes licensed for that purpose by the Archdeacon of Buckingham. These three groups were supported in the late 18th/early 19th centuries by John Rolls (Aylesbury Congregationalist) and later James Durley (founder of the Bierton Methodist Society). In 1813 they were given a small building in Church Street as a meeting house, becoming the ‘Independent’ Church (or the ‘Union’ Chapel – a union of the three groups). A piece of land was acquired adjoining the site and a new meeting house (the basis of this now-closed URC building) was erected (with burial ground) and completed in 1832.

In the early years the stretch of road from The Manse to Straws Hadley Farm House was called Chapel Street.

In April 2004 the Wingrave United Reform Church was closed, due to falling attendance, and the building was sold to a developer in 2007. By 2011 it had been developed into 3 properties.
